I had this idea yesterday and it made me smile, so I sketched it up last night. Hopefully I find the time and enthusiasm to finish it. On reflection, I decided it would be much funnier if the dog was of the fluffy poodle or chihuahua variety, so I’ll have to get on to that!
I’ve established my love of pictograms in place of dialogue and I stand by it. It’s just much funnier than reading ”I’m gonna inflict some serious damage on these here foot clan!”.
He’s such a poser. Just look at him with his lipstick, earrings and manicured nails.
Hey look, it’s Hodor and the gang!
Seeing as I have very little to show for all the hard work I’ve been putting in around the artlab, I thought I’d kick off the first instalment of a little something I like to call ‘stuff Garth did ages ago and hasn’t shown anybudy yet!’.
The purpose being to keep this blog ticking over without actually having to get off my butt and finish anything right now. I swear, I have things, they’re just not for show/in various stages of completion.
Anyway, this is a thing I did a couple of years ago for Luke Jurevicius, for a project called Math Seeds. The brief was to create a flash drawn background for a web animated thingamy. The different rooms to this house were the sets for Math related activities and ‘webisodes’. Another illustrator/animator contributed significant chunks to the left hand side (outside) world, which I altered to fit the style of the rest of the set. There are also some small props which came courtesy of Nathan Jurevicius 🙂 Booyah!

Zombies need love too. <3
Thought I’d change things up a bit, y’know? Draws a turtle.
Here’s another Game of Thrones doodle. This time it’s Bronn!
Characters like this pop up in my sketchbook every now and then to remind me of the years I spent animating in Flash. Check him out…he’s totally asking for some instances and even better, he doesn’t even have legs! Perfect!
Lifedrawing again last night…
Hey Ho! It’s me again. Me being Garth. I’ve started going to lifedrawing classes at CDW Studios in the City, which is a nice bookend to the week. The dudes were quick poses from last week, the ladies were tonight’s efforts.
I’m a bit of a Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire) tragic. If you don’t have a clue what I’m talking about, do yourself a favour and google it! I’ve got a bunch of sketches done of various characters, but I’m holding back on posting until they’re inked and coloured…needless to say, there are enough characters in that universe to keep me busy for a very long time.
I meant for this to be a chance to get my hands dirty with illustrator…but I love sketchbook so much I just can’t go past it, so here it is. It started out as a Mr squiggle from a couple of posts back.
Hey all…long time no post. My boy Jude turned 1 year old this month. He charges around the house like a mad thing these days and he surprises us everyday with something new 🙂 Last week I booted up my pc and he decided he’d like to have a go at painting…
He had so much fun it was beautiful, he laughed, smiled and chatted the whole time.
*Edit* I also bought a Cintiq recently, Ha!
I had no real plan with this one, it just evolved from a random squiggle I did last night. And I’m keen to push the last post further down the page. Not the first blue forest creature playing with orbs of light I’ve ever illustrated. Probably not the last.
I’ve wanted to try something like this for a while. I’ve been doing some tightly rendered character illustrations for a kids show and this was a bit of an antidote 😀
