Continuing on my Game of Thrones theme.  First time I’ve done some art for myself in weeks.  Feels good.  I know there’s plenty to fix here, but I don’t like to ruin a sketch by getting bogged down with silly things like anatomy and reference.

The Eggsperts

Last year I did some character design work on a production called The Eggsperts, with Flying Bark. Some early pics have surfaced here.  It’s interesting to see how he ultimately ended up as a 3d model, with the colour changes and axing of a couple of limbs.  I bet the animators were relieved!

Quentin Blake

Quentin Blake is wonderful.  I love watching him draw, his illustrations are so full of energy and life!  Please, if you have the inclination, watch this video…

Ah, Spacepug, where will your adventures take you this week?

Whenever possible, I like to make my spacesuits resemble Mork’s.

My other dog is a Dire Wolf

I had this idea yesterday and it made me smile, so I sketched it up last night. Hopefully I find the time and enthusiasm to finish it. On reflection, I decided it would be much funnier if the dog was of the fluffy poodle or chihuahua variety, so I’ll have to get on to that!

Hurt Foot!

I’ve established my love of pictograms in place of dialogue and I stand by it.  It’s just much funnier than reading ”I’m gonna inflict some serious damage on these here foot clan!”.

Mr Tickles

He’s such a poser. Just look at him with his lipstick, earrings and manicured nails.

Math Seeds

Seeing as I have very little to show for all the hard work I’ve been putting in around the artlab, I thought I’d kick off the first instalment of a little something I like to call ‘stuff Garth did ages ago and hasn’t shown anybudy yet!’.

The purpose being to keep this blog ticking over without actually having to get off my butt and finish anything right now.  I swear, I have things, they’re just not for show/in various stages of completion.

Anyway, this is a thing I did a couple of years ago for Luke Jurevicius, for a project called Math Seeds.  The brief was to create a flash drawn background for a web animated thingamy.  The different rooms to this house were the sets for Math related activities and ‘webisodes’.  Another illustrator/animator contributed significant chunks to the left hand side (outside) world, which I altered to fit the style of the rest of the set.  There are also some small props which came courtesy of Nathan Jurevicius 🙂 Booyah!

Thought I’d change things up a bit, y’know? Draws a turtle.

Characters like this pop up in my sketchbook every now and then to remind me of the years I spent animating in Flash.  Check him out…he’s totally asking for some instances and even better, he doesn’t even have legs! Perfect!

Lifedrawing March 1st

Lifedrawing again tonight. I’ve misplaced my large sketchbook somehow (the thing is huge), so these are digital sketches.  Still a little tentative with my lines.  Poses are anywhere from 3-15 mins.
